ReNew the NewThis project involved going out to the New River and picking up any trash we found in the river. This project lasted around four hours, and has been going on for many years. This time, there was still lots of trash to be picked up, showing how the pollution of the river continues. This opportunity provided me with the chance to connect with the New River Valley community, and try to improve the quality of this river.

Habitat RoanokeThis project was with Habitat for Humanity, specifically in the Roanoke area. On this project we helped on two separate houses doing a variety of different tasks, including insulating walls and moving gravel. The family of one of the houses was also present, which was very memorable because we could see the affect of building the house directly.

Feeding AmericaFeeding America worked specifically in the southwest Virginia area, where we sorted and inspected food which would be sent out to soup kitchens, or other food providers. This was an excellent opportunity to learn more in depth on what is needed to be able to provide food for these community members. Before, I never realized how much had to happen, and the experience was very positive and enjoyable.
Campus KitchenI participated in campus kitchen many times in this semester, where I helped deliver food to Radford-Fairlawn Daily Bread. This project gave me an opportunity to better serve the community, and learn more about community involvement and their needs. This has been a great program that I have enjoyed serving.
